Glucose is a molecule and its level increases after food intake. Insulin is a hormone that regulates the glucose level in the blood. It induces taking into by the related cells and to provide energy for the body. Increased glucose level trigger the production of insulin by the pancreas keep the sugar at normal level in the blood. 

Importance and causes of insulin resistance.

Insulin resistance is defined as a decrease in the sensitivity of cells to insulin. Essential cells could not reach the glucose so the glucose level could not be maintained. Therefore, the pancreas has to produce much more insulin in response to decreased insulin sensitivity for glucose homeostasis.

There are many reasons which trigger the insulin resistance. A sedentary lifestyle, excessive amount of fat in the body and high sugar/carbohydrate diet are among the main reasons.
